We are the descendants [see above photo] of William Edward Reinhardt, Jr. and Victoria Sarah Kaniuhele Reinhardt of Paukukalo, Maui, Hawaii.  William is the son of William Reinhardt, Sr. and Hana Ka'ianui Kaaihue Kalauli Reinhardt whose family hails from the Paukukalo, Waihee and Waiehu area [read their Family History].  Our kumu `ohana traces our ancestors from Hana's side of the family and we are descendants of the KA`ULAHEANUIOKAMOKU lineage.

William, Jr. is what the Hawaiians called "hapa haole", meaning his racial descent was of half Hawaiian and half white (haole) or Caucasian extraction.  His paternal grandparents, Frederick and Louisa Reinhardt immigrated from Germany to America and settled in the San Francisco area in California in the 1800s'. Unfortunately, we have not been able to trace his German roots as passionately as we have done with his Hawaiian side of the family, auwe.  What we have gathered is mainly from the Census.  All we know is that William, Sr., his brothers and a sister were born in the United States to immigrant parents who came from Wurrtemburg and Bavaria, Germany.

Our grandparents, William Reinhardt, Jr. and Sarah Kaniuhele's own family tree, is extensive, as they had nine children that survived out of fourteen!  They include Victoria  Almeida (Andrew)aka Alameda; Hannah Antonio (Catalino); Eleanor Crislip, formerly Ryan (Marshall); Mae Kaluau (Eddie); Pearl Mitchell (Uncle Harry Kunihi); Charles Reinhardt (Rosina "Dolly" Morado); George Reinhardt (Toshiko Mizushima); Isaac Reinhardt, (w-1, Shirley Yoshitomi and w-2, Monica Park); and William Reinhardt III, "Jr." (Josephine Momoa); and their individual family trees are also extensiive!   [Note: their individual family trees are restricted access].

Previously mentioned, is the fact that William's mother Hana Kalauli descends from the Ka`ulaheanuiokamoku line, which includes the Ka'ianui ohana (Kaaihue, Kapahee, Kailiponi, Houpu, Husseys, Long, etc.); and direct tie-in to the Krueger's (Hana's mother, Kalaninuiohaha Kaupa's, second husband was Edward "Ned" Krueger, hence Hana and Tutu Tom Krueger are half brother and sister); then, there's William, Jr.'s wife Sarah Kaniuhele's mother, Babiana Kauila aka Kahuila Kaniuhele side of the family--[Note: original spelling of Grandma Sarah's surname is Kaniuhele, however, we were recently informed by their family member, that years ago, the family lost patience with often mis-spelt and mis-pronounced Kaniuhele surname, that Thomas had legally changed it to Kanahele many years ago!], so our ohana from Kauai, have always spelt their surnames as Kanahele--their extended families are the Mawae and Hopeau ohana.  Anyway, after divorcing her husband Thomas Kaniuhele, Babiana married Ah Chong Tam, who is the father of Tutu Ah Lan (married Edmund Saffery) making our Grandma Sarah Reinhardt and Tutu Ah Lan, half sisters--hence our family ties with the Safferys'.   However, we have mainly concentrated our genealogical research on the Hawaiian-side of the Reinhardt ohana, but do include the aforementioned ohana in generalized kumu `ohana charts, working with whatever data we had available or as indicated.
